BLOG HOSTING & EMAIL LISTS

Bluehost: I used Bluehost for hosting this blog. Easy to use, 1-click automatic WordPress installation and excellent customer service. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND using Bluehost for your first site. I’ve used other hosting services before and Bluehost has by far been the best and easiest to use.

ConvertKit: If you have a blog and are interested in starting an email list, or if your interested in creating email based courses I recommend you check out ConvertKit. I’ve been using ConvertKit for my blog and have been extremely happy with their product and their service. They make it easy to create opt-in forms for your site, manage your list members, and create automated email sequences from their easy to use online service. You don’t need to know how to code to use their tools, and if you have any questions they have a great support team to help you out. I’m also using ConvertKit for an email based training course, and it has been very easy to create the emails, arrange them in the order I want them to go out, and set the scheduling.

ORGANIZATION & TIME-SAVING TOOLS

Evernote LogoEvernote: I write my lesson plans and blog articles in Evernote. Why? Because I’m alway on the go and I want to be productive. I don’t want to carry my laptop around with me everywhere to be able to work on stuff. Using the Evernote app on my phone,  I type my lessons and ideas while I’m commuting on the bus. It also helps me keep all my information in one place and share it with others when I need to.

Dropbox LogoDropbox: One of the technologies I recommend the most for educators and students. Dropbox is cloud storage that is super simple to setup and keeps your files safe….doesn’t matter if your Mac or PC.  It automatically backs up and syncs your Dropbox files across all of your devices using Dropbox.  I’ve had my hard drive crash when I was getting my Masters…all of my files were lost. If I would of had Dropbox back then I would of saved hours and hours of work.

TOOLS FOR FLIPPING YOUR CLASS

Techsmith CamtasiaCamtasia Studio is a screen recording software you can use to record video lessons. You can record your screen as you demonstrate software, review a website, or present a lesson from  your computer. I really like how easy Camtasia is to setup and get started.  Camtasia for the PC also has a PowerPoint plugin so you can easily create a video showing your PowerPoint presentation. If your looking for a tool to help flip your classroom, I highly recommend Camtasia because once you make a recording you can export it as a video or as an audio file so it gives you different options for providing content to your students. I’ve been using Camtasia for all my screen recording for the last ten years and highly recommend it. If you get Camtasia and have any questions let me know….always happy to help get you started.
